KUWAIT, United Arab Emirates (AP) The Kuwaiti hotel supply chain is in hot water after a new hotel product has been found to be contaminated with human feces.
The hotel chain’s website said Friday that the “KUWAH” hotel brand toilet paper was made by an unnamed company, but that the toilet paper wasn’t from the hotel chain and it was sold by other companies.
The hotel chain said it had issued a recall of the toilet products it sells, but would not provide further details.
The U.S. embassy in Kuwait said it is monitoring the situation closely and is monitoring international news reports.
The Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington issued a statement saying it “strongly condemns the use of human waste by hotels in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirate and encourages the government and relevant authorities to take immediate action to curb the use.”
The hotel company said in a statement that the issue was being investigated by the local authorities.
The American Embassy in Kuwait issued a separate statement saying that it was aware of the matter and that it had suspended the use and sale of the hotel brand product.
