UAE hotel supply chain, Dubai Resorts, is considering the lockout of hotel supply in the UAE following the country’s recent supply shortage.
The company has announced that it will supply a total of 830,000 hotel beds for the Dubai 2022 World Cup, but only 6,800 of them are ready for use.
The UAE is the world’s largest hotel market with more than 100 million rooms in use, and many of the hotels are already in use.
The Dubai Tourism Department has estimated that only 6% of hotels are available for use, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
The shortage of hotel beds is likely to cause the shortage of accommodation for other sectors of the economy, including tourism.
The UAE has been in the process of creating new hotels since 2020, but a new generation of hotels have yet to come online.
